NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Five Star Senior Living Inc. (Nasdaq: FVE) today announced that
Katherine E. Potter, age 42, has been appointed as President and Chief
Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2019.
Ms. Potter has been with Five Star since 2012 and currently serves as
Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Prior to joining Five
Star, Ms. Potter practiced law at Sullivan & Worcester LLP and Burns &
Levinson LLP, where she focused on corporate law matters, including
securities, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and other
transactional matters. Ms. Potter earned a BA in Government and Politics
from the University of Maryland, a Law Degree from Syracuse University
and a LL.M. in Banking and Financial Law from Boston University.
Ms. Potter succeeds Bruce J. Mackey Jr., who is stepping down as
President and Chief Executive Officer effective December 31, 2018. To
ensure a smooth transition, Mr. Mackey’s retirement agreement provides
that he will remain a non-officer employee of Five Star until December
31, 2019. Mr. Mackey has been with Five Star since its founding in 2001
and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since 2008. The
Five Star Board of Directors is grateful for his many years of service
to the company.
